Interacial Similarties and Differences
The Crossing and The Power of One have many differences and similarities. In the movie and as well as in the book the main characters both face many struggles in their lives. Manny and P.K. were bullied at a young age. They both were also raised without parents. Manny and P.K. both have women such as Maria and the nanny to both care for them. Manny and P.K both wanted to better their lives, Manny wanted to go to the great U.S.A and P.K. was pursuing college to better his education for a better life. Manny and P.K. also have people who were involved in their life and helped them out such as Robert Locke and Doc.
The differences in the story are that they are not the same race. They both live in whole different countries. One has no money the other has to much money. One is a boxer the other is a poor kid living on the streets of Juarez, Mexico. P.K. has people that care about him and Manny has no one that cares about him. Pk has a girlfriend and Manny doesnt. Pk is a grows through out the story and Manny doesnt.
I enjoyed both the movie and the book. the movie I found very interesting and entertaining. The book was ok but it was hard to pay attention at times. I could connect to Manny and Pk cause they probably felt lonely at time and I have felt lonely before. Similat themes in the movie and the book are hope, realationships, and overcoming life obstacles.
